Great story Ron! I would have posted earlier, but was out trying to find a hobby as suggested by TOR ("The Other Ron").
This may be off topic, but has anyone seen the new movie “Over the Hedge”? I couldnt help but visualize Ron’s Cruella as the HOA president in that movie.

We saw “Over the Hedge” last weekend. That’s the first thing my son said to me at the end of the movie. “Hey, Dad. Was that Cruella?”

Welcome aboard Carlos. If you think that was a good story, search the archives for the story about his grandfather! One of the most touching stories I’ve ever heard.

Ron, just found your show last week, and I’ve listened to about a half-dozen shows since then. I particularly enjoyed this episode, in large part because I am also a former Boston Globe paperboy. That job played an important role in my high-school development, I’d have to say.

One sad note: the Boston Globe did away with paperboys not long after my stint ended in 1994. When I left the route, I wasn’t able to follow the time-honored tradition of “passing it on” to a neighbor. Instead, it went to an adult driver, as the Globe moved to delivering its paper about an hour earlier ... presumably a little too early for some kids. I think they were also worried about our safety. A sign of the times, I guess.
